Initial Calculation
Initial Calculation
The new pension scheme of the TNO Pension Fund will come into effect on 1 July 2026. To give you an idea of what your pension will be under the new scheme, you will receive an ‘initial calculation’ in late April/early May 2026. This initial calculation includes an estimate of your expected pension under both the current and the new scheme.
The amounts in the initial calculation are based on our financial situation and the personal details we had on record on 1 October 2025. After transitioning, you will receive a new calculation within six months. You will then see, for example, the exact pension capital with which you started on 1 July 2026.
If you started accruing pension with our fund after 1 October 2025, we will, unfortunately, not be able to provide you with an initial calculation. For members who left employment or retired after 1 October 2025, the initial calculation is based on their period of active service.
What is the basis for initial calculation?
To calculate your expected pension under the current and new schemes, we will be using a number of basic principles and assumptions, which we have put into an overview for you.

Compensation
The way your pension is funded will change when you transition to the new scheme. This could have a negative impact on some members’ future pension accrual. If you are aged between 35 and 67 and are accruing a pension with us through your employer as of 30 June, you might be eligible for compensation.

Explanation of differences in amounts
In the initial calculation, you can see the (expected) pension calculated for the current and new schemes. There are differences between them.
