Your partner’s pension under the new scheme
You are currently receiving a pension. Under the new scheme, almost nothing changes in relation to your partner’s pension. Your partner remains entitled to a partner’s pension if agreed on retirement. However, there will be some changes.
Partner’s pension after retirement
The partner’s pension is the pension your partner receives after your death. If you have opted for a partner’s pension on retirement, the level of the partner’s pension normally is a maximum of 70% of your pension (or a different percentage if that’s what you chose). Under the new scheme, this benefit, like your retirement pension, will move with the investments and we will recalculate it every year. If you chose to exchange your partner’s pension for additional retirement pension, then there is no partner’s pension for your partner.
Note: If you register your partner when you are already retired, your partner is not entitled to a partner’s pension.
Orphan’s pension after retirement
Should you die after retirement, your children will receive an orphan’s pension until they reach the age of 25. This benefit is equal to 20% of your final pension payment.
